About the Journal
«Izvestiya Irkutskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta» («The Bulletin of Irkutsk State University») is a peer-reviewed scientific and scientific-methodical journal and publishes the articles on basic problems in the theory and practice of natural sciences and humanities, as well as on the problems of high school education. Our journal offers to readers the articles of Russian and foreign authors including research articles, bibliographic reviews, book reviews, archival materials, conference announcements etc. The journal «Izvestiya Irkutskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta» is addressed to scientists, postgraduate students, students and anyone who is interested of fundamental and applied research in various fields of science.

Seriya «Biologiya. Ecologiya» of the «Izvestiya Irkutskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta» (series «Biology. Ecology» of «The Bulletin of Irkutsk State University») publishes the scientific reviews, research articles and short reports, which are based on the original scientific research of Russian and foreign authors in all sections of biology and ecology.
Our special concern are research carried out at Baikal Lake and Baikal Nature Territory, devoted to actual ecological problems of Siberian regions or investigating the advanced fields of biology.
Series «Biology. Ecology» was founded in 2008; it is issued four times a year.

«Izvestiya Irkutskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta». Seriya «Matematika» («The Bulletin of Irkutsk State University». Series «Mathematics») is a peer reviewed journal which accepts high quality research articles in mathematics, mechanics, computer science and mathematical economics.
Annually, the journal publishes about 50 articles in the following areas: algebra and mathematical logic, mathematical analysis and theory of differential equations, optimal control theory, discrete mathematics and computer science, modeling theory, artificial intelligence, theory of finite automata and formal languages, systems analysis, software development.
The Editorial Board is composed of distinguished researchers from scientific schools of Irkutsk, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Belarus and Mongolia.
The submissions can be presented in the form of reviews, full articles, as well as in the form of short reports. Series «Mathematics» was founded in 2007. Since 2009 the journal is issued four times a year and is available for researchers, university teachers, graduate students, and all those who are interested in publishing their scientific achievements in mathematics, computer science and mathematical economics.
Regular quarterly publications of the series «Mathematics» are uploaded on our website at the end of each three months, the journal provides open access to its content.

Seriya «Nauki o Zemle» (Series «Earth Sciences») of the journal «Izvestiya Irkutskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta» («The Bulletin of Irkutsk State University») publishes papers of Russian and foreign authors, containing new results in the field of natural processes occurring in different geospheres: lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, near-Earth space, as well as in the investigation of population, economic activities and their optimization, natural and environmental risks and disasters. Our special concern are research carried out at Baikal Lake and Baikal Nature Territory. The journal also publishes review articles on this issue.

«Izvestiya Irkutskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta». Seriya «Politologiya. Religiovedenie» («The Bulletin of Irkutsk State University». Series «Political Science and Religion Studies») publishes articles in theory, methodology, and history of different areas of political science; results of applied research on Russian and world politics; academic and methodological materials for lecturers and students studying political science, religion studies, and theology.
Editorial board aims at preserving the journal as the platform for discussion on key issues of political science and religion studies, therefore, its content does not necessarily reflect the views of the editorial board. The basic task of the editorial board is drawing in authors from Russian and foreign research centers, which is successfully being implemented – percentage of authors from Irkutsk does not exceed one-third of the overall collective body of authors. Much attention is paid to discussion being intergenerational, hence authors with various background get published: old and eminent scholars, those with experience and striving to get to the top, and those only beginning their scientific career – postgraduate students, postgraduate degree seekers, and Master’s degree students. It is important for the editorial board to have authors who are practitioners – politicians, local media managers, members of the clergy.
The authors take the responsibility for credible facts, quotations, economic data and statistics, proper names, geographic names and other information, as well as for appropriate use of information not intended for general audience.
The content of the articles published in the journal is widely used as supplementary reading set for university students. The idea of designing journal topic guide is nurtured, making the best use of its materials in research and academic activity. The journal is available free of charge and by subscription.

The periodical publishes debatable materials therefore its content does not necessarily reflect the views of the editorial board. Series issue, addressed to scientists, postgraduate students and students, is coordinated by the Academic Council of Historical Faculty of ISU.

The mission of the journal is defined by modern science that combines differentiating approaches to the human study with synthesizing various knowledge revealing particular and general aspects and facts of processes concerning development, nurture, education, vocational guidance, socialization and adaptation as well as psychological aid in various living and working conditions.
