The kinetic methods for the investigation of the mechanisms of complex catalytic reactions have been developed based on the measurements of the differential selectivity of the catalytic systems. The methods have several advantages over the traditional kinetic methods that use the reaction rate/catalytic activity as the main parameter. Using the developed methods, the direct experimental evidences for the mechanistic hypotheses have been found for the synthetically important Heck reaction and its modifications, Suzuki and Sonogashira reactions, and direct arylation of heteroaromatics. The obtaining of such proofs was impossible earlier using traditional methods of chemical kinetics.
