ISU students took part in the XXVI Baikal Summer School on Physics of Elementary Particles and Astrophysics

14 students of the Faculty of Physics of Irkutsk State University took part in the 26th Baikal Summer School on Physics of Elementary Particles and Astrophysics, which was held in the village of Bolshiye Koty on the shore of the Lake Baikal. The event gathered 102 participants from Russian universities: Moscow State University, Far Eastern Federal University, ITMO University, St. Petersburg State University, Kazan Federal University, Dubna University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, as well as students and postgraduates from China and Rwanda.

The Summer School is organized by the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) and ISU. The School programme covered the widest range of topics: general theory of relativity, the Standard Model, multi-messenger astronomy, neutrino physics, quantum electrodynamics, physics of supernovae, nuclear physics.

In addition to the intensive scientific and academic programme, the School participants went on a hike along a section of the Great Baikal Trail from Bolshiye Koty to the Skriper rock and swam in Lake Baikal.

I got to meet students from China and other parts of Russia. I really liked the School because there are many classes on astrophysics. I also really like being on Lake Baikal in summer. Next year I will definitely take part in this event again.
