A meeting with Shenyang Normal University representatives was held at Irkutsk State University. The delegation was welcomed by ISU Rector, Professor Alexander Schmidt. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Pedagogical Institute and the Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication.

Alexander Schmidt:

Dear colleagues, dear guests, first of all, I am glad to warmly welcome you to Irkutsk city and Irkutsk State University. It is very pleasant that in this beautiful summer time, despite some worsening of the weather, we are holding a meeting today to discuss prospects and make decisions on our further cooperation.

The Rector of ISU emphasized that Irkutsk State University is one of the largest classical universities in the region, where active scientific activity is conducted and a wide range of areas of study is offered to the students and researchers. According to Alexander Schmidt, the university successfully implements training in pedagogical specialties, which makes the universities similar in their educational profiles.

In response, the head of the delegation of Shenyang Normal University, Jian Fengchun, Secretary of the Party Committee, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for pedagogical training, possible development of a joint master’s programs, and its implementation in various formats. The delegation noted ISU’s successful experience in implementing such projects.

The participants agreed that a key step for further cooperation development will be an increase in mutual student exchanges. Following the meeting, it was decided to extend the agreement on cooperation signed in 2018.
