Irkutsk State University has entered the list of the top 20 Russian universities in the subjects of geography, history and archaeology.

The agency has published the fifth edition of subject rankings of Russian universities. This year, rankings were released for 35 fields, the lists of the best included 167 universities from 45 regions of Russia. The project is included in the “Three University Missions” family. Subject rankings are based on an assessment of a university’s educational, scientific and social activities. The rankings answer the question: which universities provide the best educational and scientific training for students in a specific subject area, taking into account the university’s contribution to social development. The rankings are built exclusively on objective indicators and do not use the results of expert surveys.

Regional universities are narrowing the gap with capital universities in many fields. The “Three University Missions” project in the subject area is becoming an objective tool for assessing the real competitiveness of universities, taking into account both academic achievements and the demands of the labour market.

Background: RAEX is the largest agency in Russia in the field of non-credit ratings. The agency has a team of specialists who launched the first ranking projects in the country back in the 1990s. RAEX is engaged in compiling rankings, assigning non-credit ratings, research of economic sectors and markets, holding events on the subject matter of its analytical activities. The key areas of the agency’s activity are the preparation of rankings in the fields of education, non-profit sector, sustainable development, as well as business development infrastructure.
