Students of Irkutsk State University won bronze in the regional stage of the most prestigious international Chinese language competition for foreign students “Chinese Bridge”. On April 14 the strongest students from Irkutsk Region, Zabaikalsky Krai, the Republic of Buryatia, the Republic of Khakassia, and the Republic of Tyva participated in the competition that took place at Banzarov Buryat State University.
The competition consisted of four stages:
Stage I – a monologue on the theme “Tianxia – One Family”;
Stage II – a linguistic and cultural quiz;
Stage III – a Chinese-styled creative performance;
Stage IV – an impromptu speech.
The prize winners of the competition from ISU:
3rd place – Dinara Alekseeva, 4th-year student of the Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication;
3rd place – Artyom Mikhailov, 1st-year student of the International Institute of Economics and Linguistics.
Background:
The world competition “Chinese Bridge” (or “Hanyuqiao”) has been held annually since 2002 in over 100 countries around the world. In our country, the all-Russian competition for schoolchildren was first held in 2013 and for primary school children (online) in 2021. The competition is organized by the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation under the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.
