ISU kept its position of 1501+ in the World University Rankings 2026, published by the Times Higher Education agency on October, 9.

Irkutsk State University is ranked in the same group as Chelyabinsk State University, Far Eastern Federal University, Irkutsk National Research Technical University, Kemerovo State University, Moscow Polytechnic University, Russian Technological University, National Research University and other Russian higher education organizations.

A total of 103 Russian higher education organizations were listed in the World University Rankings 2026.

Key areas assessed by the experts when compiling the ranking:

• Teaching (the learning environment);
• Research environment (volume, income and reputation);
• Research quality (citation impact, research strength, research excellence and research influence);
• International outlook (staff, students and research);
• Industry (income and patents).

World University Rankings are trusted by students, scientists, government representatives and industry experts worldwide. The Ranking for the next year is formed during the current year. Ranking of the year 2026 included 2191 higher education organizations from 115 countries and territories.
