On June 17, ISU was visited by a delegation from Heilongjiang Province, led by Vice Chairman of the People’s Government of Heilongjiang Province Yu Jian.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Irkutsk, Deputy Minister of Education of the Irkutsk Region Elena Apanovich and Third Secretary of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Representation in Irkutsk Yulia Malanina.
ISU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Alexey Vokin spoke about the cooperation with educational institutions of Heilongjiang Province, noting that recently, partnerships with Chinese universities and research institutions have been developing intensively:
Right now, more than 150 high school graduates from Heilongjiang Province are studying at ISU. The university actively develops cooperation with educational organizations such as Heilongjiang University, Harbin Normal University, Heilongjiang Institute of Foreign Languages and others. This cooperation includes academic exchange programs, joint methodological work and organization of scientific conferences and seminars.
Students and lecturers from universities of Heilongjiang Province will participate in the Baikal Summer School. The university is ready to develop not only academic but also youth exchanges, including exchange in the fields of culture and sports.
Vice Chairman of the People’s Government of Heilongjiang Province Yu Jian expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome:
It is a great honor for me to visit Irkutsk State University, known for its rich history and highly qualified specialists. Heilongjiang Province sees this visit to Irkutsk State University as an opportunity to strengthen educational cooperation between our regions.
Seven students from Heilongjiang Province currently studying at ISU attended the meeting and shared impressions of their studies and life in Irkutsk. Yu Jian wished them academic success and encouraged them to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to become ambassadors of friendship between Russia and China.
