Irkutsk State University has entered Group D++ in the first Russian ranking on the quality of training specialists in the field of Artificial Intelligence, developed by the Artificial Intelligence Alliance.
The Alliance’s university ranking has already proven itself as a reliable mechanism for assessing the quality of education in the field of AI, as well as an effective tool for interaction between business and universities. Following the releases, the Alliance advises universities, helping them see their strengths and weaknesses, find growth points, focusing on competencies that are significant for employment.
Alongside ISU, Group D++ includes Moscow Polytechnic University, Novosibirsk State Technical University, Dubna State University, Saint Petersburg Mining University and other prestigious universities of Russia. ISU is ranked first among Irkutsk region universities.
The ranking was developed by the Artificial Intelligence Alliance in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia in 2023. The ranking methodology was updated in 2024.
Experts identified 4 groups of criteria for evaluation:
- Graduate employability
- Relevance of the educational process in the AI field
- Educational environment
- Partnerships and external interactions
The main data, indicating the quality of training Junior AI specialists and taken into account in the ranking criteria, were obtained through surveys of employer companies and student surveys, as well as:
- By analyzing the publication and competition activity of students and university staff;
- By studying the quality of educational programs in the field of mathematical and computer sciences;
- By assessing the salary levels of graduates of educational programmes in AI;
- By assessing the level of training of applicants in the field of mathematics and computer science.
The Ranking 2024 was created on the basis of a mathematical model, which included assessments on 19 criteria, each of which was assigned a significance from 1 to 5 by expert decision.
The Artificial Intelligence Alliance brings together leading technology companies for the joint development of their competencies and the accelerated implementation of artificial intelligence in education, research and business activities.
The Alliance includes Russian technology companies: VK, MTS, Yandex, Sber, “Gazprom Neft” and the Russian Direct Investment Fund.
