On the Day of Russian Science, employees of the UNESCO Chair in Water Resources of ISU traditionally participate in scientific and educational events. This year, in collaboration with the Laboratory of Legal Research of High-Tech Industries of the Federal Research Center A.E. Favorsky Irkutsk Institute of Chemistry of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, ISU department organized educational meetings between scientists and schoolchildren in Irkutsk.
Deputy Head of the Department, Candidate of Legal Sciences Roman Kolobov, and Research Fellow of the Department, Candidate of Legal Sciences Yaroslava Ditsevich, conducted open lessons as part of the educational event “Parade of Sciences” at Irkutsk School (Gymnasium) № 44.
The topic was the problems that Irkutsk scholars in Law are working on: legal forms of countering “gray” mining, creating a legal model for the development of factory-based towns for chemical industry, improving the legal protection of Lake Baikal.
The scientists also discussed with high school students the application of environmental and legal knowledge in the study of particularly relevant problems of ecosystem conservation, and conducted a workshop “Young Eco-Teacher” for teachers, students of first to third grades and their parents.
The schoolchildren showed great interest in the event and asked a lot of questions about the prospects of choosing a career as a scientist in the field of ecology and law.
