The Times Higher Education (THE) Interdisciplinary Science Rankings was published on November 21st. The ranking includes 749 universities from 92 countries worldwide, including 38 Russian universities. ISU is ranked 601+.
According to the ranking creators, “The Interdisciplinary Science Rankings is the first effort of its kind to measure universities’ contributions and commitment to interdisciplinary science”.
The Interdisciplinary Science Rankings considered various indicators of educational institutions' performance in three key areas, each characterizing a stage in the implementation of interdisciplinary research projects: funding, administrative support and promotion, publication activity and reputation. The analysis was based on open data on publications (in international ranking journals), citations, and data from a survey of over 20 000 scientists worldwide.
ISU Rector, Professor Alexander Schmidt:
Modern science is undoubtedly formed at the intersection of its various branches and subjects. It is the convergence of seemingly incompatible theoretical approaches and research methods that gives rise to the most promising scientific developments, opening up new horizons for both academic knowledge and applied solutions. The inclusion of our university in the Interdisciplinary Science Rankings emphasizes the participation of ISU researchers not only in cutting-edge scientific developments, but also our involvement in the creation of the science of the future.
