ISU College opened on September 1
1 September 2024

On September 1st, 2024 ISU College started its work. 223 students from the Irkutsk and Novosibirsk regions, the Republics of Buryatia and Khakassia, the Transbaikal Krai and Khabarovsk Krai as well as from China are enrolled in the programs of the secondary vocational education.

Deputy Minister of Education of the Irkutsk region Elena Apanovich congratulated first-year students and teachers on the opening of the College and the beginning of the first academic year:

Graduates of secondary vocational education realize that they have a document, which allows them to start their professional activity. Having started to work, they can make decision on their further educational and professional career. In my opinion, the level of secondary vocational education offers much more opportunities.

ISU College opening ceremony started with cutting the red ribbon by the Rector of ISU Professor Alexander Schmidt. He welcomed the new students:

Until this day, we haven’t had a college among the ISU subdivisions. The idea of creating the College has gone through a very serious and quite long way. Today you are joining the student family of Irkutsk State University. It will be not only studies, but also other events that, I believe, will spark a sincere interest in you.

The clock which will symbolically count the time of ISU college was set instead of the traditional First Bell. The right to start the clock was given to the students who were the first to apply for admission and were enrolled. These are Olga Shuvalova and Nikita Orlov.

Dr. Roman Kravtsov, Director of ISU College:

I am sure that our college will be the best. Not only in Irkutsk, not only in the region, but in Russia. That is because we are creating a comfortable, safe educational space for highly motivated students that will be successful in the future and become the professional support for our country in the future.

The new students gave a symbolic “student’s oath”, watched the performances from other ISU students and listened to the “Gaudeamus” anthem.
