Final of the qualifying round of the all-Russian stage of the World competition “Chinese Bridge” for the schoolchildren, organized by the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Irkutsk and Chinese Language Center “ISU Confucius Institute”, was held at the ISU Scientific Library.
Li Hai, Consul General of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Irkutsk:
Such events help strengthen the relationships between our countries – it is an example of the cultural exchange between Russia and China. We are happy to see that more and more people are actively learning about the multifaceted culture of PRC. It is a great platform for schoolchildren and students to delve into the Chinese culture, learn the language and make connections. From the name of the Consulate General in Irkutsk, I would like to extend our gratitude to the Irkutsk State University for the extensive work.
22 schoolchildren from Irkutsk region, Republic of Buriatia and Republic of Tuva put their knowledge of the Chinese language to the test. The participants were separated into two groups: from 13 to 18 y.o. and from 6 to 12 y.o. The senior group demonstrated their mastery of the Chinese language to the jury: they read poems, came up with a continuation of a given story and played a linguistic game. The junior group participated online.
Elena Dokuchaeva, participant:
I live in the Ust-Kuda village, study in the seventh grade and learn Chinese online. To practice speaking we visited Beijing, Hong Kong and Macau. I like the sound of the Chinese language and happy to talk to people of other nationality on their language.
The winners of the regional round will take part in the all-Russian competition and get a chance to represent Russia in the final round in China. “Chinese Bridge” is the most prestigious Chinese Proficiency Competition in the world. The world round is held in China and broadcasted on the China national television. The winners of the world round are awarded the title of the “Envoy of Chinese Language”.
