Geographical and Environmental dictation took place at ISU
Irkutsk State University acted as a venue for two large-scale educational events: international – Geographical dictation; All-Russian – Environmental dictation. The events took place on Sunday, November 19th.
Geographical dictation
Traditionally, in Irkutsk, the main offline platform of the event was at ISU Geography Faculty, which accommodated more than 150 participants, including school and university students, military service representatives. The faculty prepared a small concert for them: a guitar composition was presented by a student of the Faculty of Geography Zakhar Timokhin, an extract from “Irkutsk with us” by V.G. Rasputin was read by a student of the Faculty of Geography Dobrynya Fedorov, ISU Law Institute choir performed.
In the dictation, the participants answered 40 questions, including questions on the topic “Man and geography”, which was added in honor of the Teacher and Mentor Year (2023). The first part, consisting of 10 questions, is a “geographical likbez” [elimination of geographical illiteracy] based on well-known facts from geography. The second part, consisting of 30 questions, is more difficult, it required the use of imaginative thinking, logic and erudition.
Celebrities, friends of the Russian Geographical Society, traditionally read the questions of the dictation, this year – TV host and advisor of the Russian Geographical Society President on Information Policy Anastasia Chernobrovina and People’s Artists of Russia Dmitry Kharatyan and Oleg Gazmanov.
