ISU students were trained under the 2023 Chinese Bridge program
15 November 2023

The online training of ISU students in a short-term language program at Qiqihar University has been completed.

20 students from different educational departments of ISU (Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication, Pedagogical Institute, Faculty of History) completed their studies at the partner university under the program 2023 “Chinese Bridge”. For two weeks, they have been improving their knowledge of the Chinese language and pronunciation, learned the subtleties of Chinese culture, learned about the environmental and regional particularities of modern China.

Yulia Yusudurova, ISU Historical Faculty:

“The “Chinese Bridge” online program of Qiqihar University is not only a great opportunity to improve your knowledge of the Chinese language, but also an opportunity to learn more about the rich Chinese culture. The lectures are quite interesting and informative. Teachers are professionals and they try to help each student. But the art component is the highlight of the program. We learn to sing, read poetry in Chinese, make cutouts and a lot more.”

Vlada Churkina, ISU Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication:

“We gained a lot of knowledge. The course is divided into two areas: language and culture. In the first one, we adapted to the native speaker's speech, did exercises and studied vocabulary. In the second one, we sang songs, cooked, made cutouts, in short, we did everything that brings us closer to learning Chinese way of thinking. Qiqihar University provides a great opportunity to show to yourself and to others that learning one of the most difficult languages is interesting and easy. We learn to talk, understand, communicate with each other, find new friends and interlocutors.”

Balzhid Arkhipova, ISU Faculty of History:

“The internship was very interesting, there were lectures on the Chinese language, and then on Chinese culture every day. We sang songs, drew and did a lot of origami and also learned how to cook Chinese cuisine. As to language studies, we have learned new constructions, vocabulary and improved our pronunciation and auditory comprehension of Chinese.”

Svetlana Karnaukhova, ISU Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication:

“Online education at Qiqihar University is a great opportunity for international students to receive knowledge from native speakers. During our lessons, we mastered both oral communication and written language skills, as well as the cultural particularities of China. Part of the lessons were in an interactive format, including face-to-face communication. I would like to express my gratitude to the organizers of this program and wish them continuing implementation of such projects.”

The program 2023 “Chinese Bridge” is being implemented with the support of the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.
