Irkutsk State University delegation headed by Alexander Schmidt visited Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno (Belarus). The purpose of the visit – enhancement of the cooperation between universities.

The agreement between ISU and GrSU, which covers the cooperation in the field of educational and scientific activities, establishment of academic, scientific and cultural ties, development of the scientific potential of the universities and ensuring high-quality professional training, was concluded in April 2023. The main areas of cooperation between the universities are humanities, natural, social and technical sciences. Within the framework of the agreement, a cooperation program for 2022-2026 was approved between the Faculty of Economics and Management of Educational Institutions of GrSU and the International Institute of Economics and Linguistics of ISU.

Rector Alexander Schmidt and Director of IIEL Oleg Arkhipkin took part in the meeting at the Belarusian university from ISU side. The host party was represented by Rector of Yanka Kupala State University Iryna Kiturka, First Vice-rector Aleksandr Karevskiy, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Liavontsi Paulau, deans of faculties and heads of structural subdivisions.

At the meeting, the participants provided information on the results and prospects of cooperation between the GrSU Faculty of Economics and Management and ISU International Institute of Economics and Linguistics and discussed the possibilities of interuniversity projects and programs, of development of academic exchange and internships for students and teachers and expressed their commitment to work together on international research projects.

At the end of the meeting, university rectors Alexander Schmidt and Iryna Kiturka expressed hope for fruitful cooperation between the universities and commitment of the higher education institutions to student and teacher exchanges, research cooperation and other joint initiatives.

It should be noted that today the International School “Fin Tech School: sustainable development of the region in the context of digitalization” was opened at Yanka Kupala GrSU. The School will be attended by representatives of the ISU International Institute of Economics and Linguistics and students of Irkutsk Lyceum № 1 undergoing socio-economic internships at ISU IIEL. The participants will get acquainted with the economic state of the region, play the business game “Formation of an economic way of thinking among future entrepreneurs”, discuss new ideas for startups of the future and digital products in the financial sector as the basis for innovative business development. The program of the School also includes a teleconference of GrSU — ISU IIEL “Development of the socio-cultural environment of the university as the basis for the formation of sustainable region development”.
