Tatiana Tagarova, Professor of the Department of Buryat Philology at the ISU Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication, took part in the XII International Congress of Mongolists “Pax Mongolica and Historical Experience” – one of the main events in the Oriental community with over 500 scientists from different countries as participants. The Congress was held on August 10-12, 2023 under the auspices of the President of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh.
ISU professor Tatiana Tagarova presented a report to the world scientific community of Orientalists on the topic “Phraseological units in the Mongolian chronicle of the XVII century “Shara Tuji” and in modern Mongolian languages”. The report meets the main scientific interests of the Irkutsk scientist – phraseology of Mongolian languages, history of Mongolian languages, etc.
The Congress program included six sections: prehistory and history of Mongolia; historical development of the Mongolian language and literature; Mongolian society, economy, politics and legislation; the “Outer World” of the Mongols and international relations; Mongolian culture: traditions and innovations, a section for young scientists in philology and culture.
One of the significant events of the Congress was the installation of a bust of the famous orientalist, Archimandrite Palladius (Kafarov) in the Chinggis Khaan National Museum. In honor of the large-scale scientific event, the Mongolian Post has released postage stamps with portraits of six outstanding Mongolian scholars, two of whom are representatives of Russian Oriental studies – T. Z. Zhamtsarano and B. Y. Vladimirtsov.
The organizers have also provided a rich cultural program. Mongolian music performed by the state orchestra, arias from operas, Mongolian ethnic songs, etc. were played at the opening. The congress participants were given the opportunity to visit the city's museums. The congress program ended with a trip to the well-known resort “Terelj”, where the moderators' reports on the work of the sections were made and a tea party with national dishes was held.

Tatiana Tagarova is a Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of Buryat Philology at the ISU Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication, author of monographs, textbooks, etc. She defended her doctoral dissertation in Elista city (Kalmykia) on the phraseology of the Buryat language in the stylistic aspect. She has been working at ISU since 1987.
