Yesterday, August 8th, the annual Summer School of the Russian Language for foreign students opened its doors for the students of partner universities from China, Germany and Bulgaria.
The organizer of the school is the ISU Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication. The teachers of the Institute have developed a saturated program of study and stay in the Baikal region for their students.
Foreign students will have practical classes of Russian language, delve into the study of grammar, fully immerge in the language environment getting a short course on the history and culture of Siberia with tours around Irkutsk and to museums.
The main part of the classes will be held on Lake Baikal at the village Bolshye Koty, ISU base for internship. Soon all students, together with teachers and volunteers, will make an exciting trip by boat and spend the next week in one of the most picturesque places on Lake Baikal.
At the opening, which took place in the meeting room of the ISU Academic Council, the participants were welcomed by the ISU Vice Rector for Research and International Cooperation Konstantin Grigorichev. He noted that the beauty of Lake Baikal will definitely contribute to the better assimilation of the knowledge that the students came for. He also expressed the hope that after the impression and experience the students got from classes and stay on Lake Baikal, they will have a desire to return to the Baikal region and to the ISU.
