Irkutsk State University has become one of the most influential scientific organizations in the world, which are determined by one of the most respected scientific ratings of the world Nature index.
Nature Index is an open database that tracks the contribution of scientific organizations to research articles published in the world's most authoritative scientific journals on natural sciences and health sciences.
At the end of 2022, 144 Russian organizations entered the Nature Index ranking. The leader in the Russian ranking is the Russian Academy of Sciences, which unites all academic institutes and institutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Lomonosov Moscow State University took the second position.
Irkutsk State University ranks 61st among Russian organizations, ahead of such universities as St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University (ETU “LETI”), Novosibirsk State Technical University, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University and others. The greatest contribution to ISU ranking was made by scientists-archaeologists of the Research Center “Baikal Region” (an article in the journal Science Advances), employees of the Laboratory of Quantum Chemistry (two publications in The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters) and researchers of the Research Institute of Applied Physics (a publication in the journal Physical Review D).
