ISU entered the world university ranking Impact Rankings 2023 of the international ranking agency THE (Times Higher Education).

Impact Rankings 2023 included 86 Russian higher education institutions, 1591 universities, in general. ISU, along with certain other Russian universities, including those with the status of national research, is included in the 1001+ group.

The rating evaluates the impact of universities on the development of society and the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The 17 goals set out in the UN General Assembly resolution are taken as a basis for the compilation.

According to the rating, ISU has achieved the greatest success in four sustainable development goals:

• 1st: No poverty
• 8th: Decent work and economic growth
• 16th: Peace, justice and strong institutions
• 17th: Partnership for the goals

It should be noted that ISU fully supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals and acts in accordance with them. In particular, the university has a special quota for the admission of people with low-income or disabilities, introduces measures of social support and incentives, provides support for students from low-income families and assistance to the activities of trade unions, implements environmental activities, etc.
