The ISU Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication hosted an Interuniversity phonetic competition on Russian as a foreign language, dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Vladimir Mayakovsky, “Эти слова приводят в движение тысячи лет миллионов сердца”. The competition was attended by foreign students of Irkutsk universities from China, Poland, India, Nigeria, Afghanistan and CIS countries.
The participants recited Mayakovsky's poems by heart, voiced the silent movie “Барышня и хулиган”, performed theatricals of plays and poems by Vladimir Mayakovsky. The event was conducted by ISU students Gao Kani and He Benting.
The students' performances were evaluated by independent experts: Evgenia Sezko, teacher of stage speech at the Irkutsk Regional College of Culture, Marina Rasputina, director of the Language Center “Lingua-Baikal”, Lilia Sharypova, experienced presenter of Irkutsk television, Irina Baramygina, associate professor of the ISU Department of Russian Language and General Linguistics.
In the individual stage of the competition of students studying Russian as a foreign language, the first place was taken by a BSU student from Poland Elzbieta Renata Lolo with the poem “Послушайте!”, the second place was taken by BSU student Nie Qianyi with the poem “Эта книжечка моя про моря и про маяк”, the third place was taken by a first-year student of ISU Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication Zhou Maoyuan with the poem “Вот так я сделался собакой”. In the CIS students' stage of the competition, Yhlaz Temriev from ISMU took the first place with the poem “Юбилейное”, the second place was taken by Intizor Pulotova from ISMU, who read “Товарищу Нетте, пароходу и человеку”, and the third – by Nerkuz Hamidov, who first read the poem “Скрипка” [Violin], and then played this musical instrument.
In the group stage of the competition, the first place was taken by the team “Сплошное сердце” from ISMU, the second place – “Звезда” from BSU, the third place – “Вечный Маяк” from the ISU Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication.
There was also an entertainment program for the audience, in which Kim Heegeon, a 4th-year undergraduate student of the ISU Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication, sang the song “Резкая как нате!” by “План Ломоносова”. The audience also participated in a quiz on Vladimir Mayakovsky's creative advertisment of the early XX century, prepared by Elizaveta Sergeevna Kudlik, senior lecturer of the ISU Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, and after that everyone got an opportunity to read the favorite poem of the poet at the “open microphone”.
