ISU hosts the final of the All-Russian Chinese Proficiency Competition "Chinese Bridge"

For the first time, Irkutsk State University is hosting the final of the All-Russian Chinese Proficiency Competition “Chinese Bridge” among all age groups: junior schoolchildren, schoolchildren and students. ISU was awarded this honor as a university with a successfully operating Chinese language center “Confucius Institute” – one of the 21 in Russia. It should be noted that in 2015 ISU acted as the main co-organizer of the final of the IX All-Russian Chinese Proficiency  Competition among students that was held in Irkutsk.

Svetlana Bairamova, Director of the Chinese Language Center “ISU Confucius Institute”:

“The All-Russian competition is the national qualifying round of the World Competition “Chinese bridge”. The winners will have the right to represent the Russian Federation at the world competition. In addition, they will be awarded certificates for free education in China at any university in the country.”

The winners of the qualifying rounds held in seven consular districts (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok and Irkutsk) will come to the capital of the Angara region for the final of the competition. They will compete in the knowledge of the Chinese language, history and culture of China, demonstrate their talents in choreography, vocals or in an original genre related to Chinese art.

The opening ceremony of the final of the competition will be held on May 16 in the Great Hall of the Baikal Business Center (279 Baikalskaya Str. at 13:00). Special foreign guests expected at the ceremony: Cao Shihai, Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Russian Federation, Deng Ying, First Secretary of the Department of Education of the Embassy of the PRC in the RF, Consul General of the Consulate General of the PRC in Irkutsk Li Hai.

On May 16th there will also be a competition among students and on May 17th at 13:00 – among senior schoolchildren. The audience will also be able to enjoy a bright concert program which will combine performances by popular Irkutsk artists and original performance groups. The ISU Confucius Institute invites everyone to support the contestants. Free entrance.

The Russian Final for junior schoolchildren will be held online on May 23.
