On April 6, 2023, a round table of young researchers, organized jointly with the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Irkutsk, was held at the Department of Sinology of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the ISU Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication.

The round table dedicated to the development of China in the new era and to the prospects of Russian-Chinese relations was opened by the Head of the Department of International Relations Yulia V. Elokhina and the Consul for Education of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Irkutsk, Zhao Chunlu. In their welcoming speech, they noted the unprecedented level of Russian-Chinese relations in general and the long-term close cooperation of the Department of Sinology and the Consulate General in particular.

At the round table the students of the Department of Sinology spoke in Chinese, young diplomats of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Irkutsk spoke in Russian. The topics of the reports touched upon the consultative governance system in China (Angela Dadajanova), changes and progress in China in the new era (Zhang Xudong), the problems of socio-psychological adaptation of students from China in Russia (Karapetyan Karina), the creation of community with a shared future for mankind as a priority of China's foreign policy (Liu Zihui), measures of state support for enterprises in China and Russia during the COVID-19 epidemic (Evgeniya Chernykh), the party system with Chinese specifics (Irina Valkova).

After that, the students got an opportunity to talk to representatives of the Consulate General: they were most interested in questions about the policy of education in China, teaching Chinese in Russia, humanitarian exchanges between the two countries and the development of bilateral relations.
