On November 9th, an international videoconference "Irkutsk-Shenyang: Meeting of Russian and Chinese students", dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations, was organized by the ISU International Institute of Economics and Linguistics.
Taking part of Irkutsk were: representatives of the city administration headed by Mayor Ruslan Bolotov; the administration, teachers and students of the ISU International Institute of Economics and Linguistics took part in the teleconference. Taking part on the Chinese side: representatives of the Shenyang government, directors of institutes of two leading universities of Liaoning Province – Liaoning and Shenyang, as well as representatives of the Chinese Consulate-General in Irkutsk.
Welcoming the participants, Irkutsk Mayor Ruslan Bolotov stressed that 30 years is quite a significant period, proving the friendliness and strength of twin-relations based on the political and economic partnership of Russia and China, sincere interest in the culture and history of the neighboring country. The head of the capital of the Angara region also noted that "the student conference is one of the opportunities to get to know each other better."
During the teleconference, Irkutsk students presented a video in Chinese about the sights of the capital of the Angara region, and also showed one day in the life of a student of ISU IIEL and told about themselves. Chinese students studying Russian spoke about the historical names of Shenyang, the iconic city places, presented the stages of the economic development of the city over the past few years. After the official part, university students got acquainted in free communication, talked about their studies and exchanged plans for the future.
