The first round of a new quiz dedicated to China called “China Battle” was organized by the Department of Oriental languages of the International Institute of Economics and Linguistics for university students studying the Chinese language to take part. The game took place on March 31st at the concert hall of the International Institute of Economics and Linguistics.
The teams of two departments of ISU took part in the first round of the game: the International Institute of Economics and linguistics and the Law Institute. The Chinese students of ISU were invited as jury. The teams competed in such topics as music, dancing and poetry. Participants demonstrated their skills in calligraphy, language proficiency as well as knowledge of history, geography and culture of China.
The organizers stressed that both teams had seriously prepared for the game, creating a name, slogan and unique style for own teams. At the end, the team of the Law Institute (International Law subdivision) won this battle.
Dr. Evgeniia Kolodina, head of the Department of Oriental languages of the International Institute of Economics and Linguistics, comments on:
The participants of the quiz have obviously shown that Irkutsk State University has a comprehensive approach to the study of Chinese language and related aspects. All students proved their high level of intellectual and creative activity. The first round brought together two departments of ISU. We plan to make this event long-lasting and to cover all subdivisions of ISU where the Chinese language is studied.
The second round of “China Battle” is planned to be held next fall semester.
