The Confucius Institute #ISU traditionally hosts the regional round of the All-Russian stage of the World Competition «Chinese Bridge». The qualifying round in Irkutsk was organized by the Consulate General of China in Irkutsk.

The regional round took place online at Irkutsk State University. Its participants are the students and school students from Irkutsk, Angarsk, Ulan-Ude and Chita. The students demonstrated their skills in speaking Chinese fluently and correctly as well as writing Chinese characters. Knowledge of Chinese literature, culture and history, and creative talents were estimated by a jury as well.

The jury consisted of the staff of Liaoning University. According to the results of the competition, the jury determined the winners in three categories: students, high school students, junior school students. The winners will represent the Irkutsk Consular District team at the All-Russian stage of the Chinese language competition.

Summarizing the results, the chairman of the jury – Consul for Education of the Consulate General of China in Irkutsk Mr. Zhang Xiaodong noted the high level of preparation of contestants and thanked the staff of the ISU Confucius Institute for the excellent organization of the competition.

The opening of the contest was attended by Prof. Konstantin Grigorichev, ISU Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation; Mrs. Elena Apanovich, Deputy Minister of Education of Irkutsk Region; Mrs. Zhang Yingmei, Acting Consul General of the Consulate General of China in Irkutsk and Prof. Huo Chunhui, Vice Rector of Liaoning University.

2nd place - Arina Malygina (Baikal State University).

3rd place - Daniil Gataulin (Irkutsk State University).

Category «High school students»:

1st place - Tatiana Galsanova (Confucius Institute of Buryat State University).

2nd place - Irina Perfilieva (Confucius Institute of Irkutsk State University).

3rd place - Maria Gumerova (Education Center №47 of Irkutsk).

Category «Junior School Students»:

1st place - Andrei Agapov (Education Center №47, Irkutsk), Ivan Emanakov (Multidisciplinary gymnasium №4, Chita).

2nd place - Valeria Popova (Multiprofile Gymnasium №4, Chita), Darya Larionova (Confucius Institute of Irkutsk State University).

3rd place - Lev Starodubtsev (Angarsk Secondary School № 27), Alina Karpova (Chita Multipurpose Gymnasium №4).
