ISU Researchers Told about the Pollution of Lake Baikal with Microplastics

ISU researchers - Ms Sofia Biritskaya and Mr Dmitry Karnaukhov - presented the results of their project at the All-Russian conference on environmental pollution with microplastics “MicroPlasticsEnvironment – 2022”. The conference was held in the Republic of Khakassia.

The research project started in 2019. Scientists are trying to create a comprehensive picture of the impact of microplastic pollution on Lake Baikal’s ecosystem. The project is annually supported by funding from the Irkutsk branch of the Russian Geographical Society.
