We are proud to announce a new project of ISU biologists and Yandex.Cloud software group collaboration, with the involvement of the MaritimeAl company and the Lake Baikal Foundation.
The joint team is going to invent a neural network algorithm for monitoring the ECOsystem of Lake Baikal. An algorithm will automatically analyze Baikal water samples, identify and classify the microorganisms contained therein. It will greatly facilitate ISU scientist's work to distinguish more than 400 species of Baikal plankton.
A new technology solution is intended to support regular analyzes of Baikal phytoplankton and zooplankton under Project “Point №1”, the longest project for regular environmental monitoring in the history of Science entered in the Guinness book of records. The data received from monitoring are used to understand how the Baikal system is developed and how climate change influences it. Our congratulations to ISU scientists and we are very grateful to Yandex for assisting in the realization of such a long-term, prospective, largescale and significant project as “Point №1”.
