ISU entered The Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings 2021
29 March 2021
Irkutsk State University for the first time was included in the Times Higher Education ranking of the best universities in developing countries. ISU is the only representative of the higher education institutions in the Baikal region to be listed in the rankings.
The THE Emerging Economies University Rankings is based on a number of indicators that take into account various parameters of university activities such as training and educational environment, scientific work, citation of scientific publications, international mobility of students and staff. Data is collected from open sources or provided by universities upon request.
It should be noted earlier, in September 2020, ISU entered the global institutional ranking of the best universities in the world THE - which is also officially recognized by the Government of the Russian Federation (it is the basis for assessing the effectiveness of universities in the 5-100 program).
Alexander Schmidt, Rector of ISU:
    - Irkutsk State University, in full accordance with the guidelines of the state policy in the field of higher education, systematically develops educational activities, builds up research potential and increases scientific productivity. The policy we are implementing is, as we can see, positively assessed by international experts from Times Higher Education, which is an objective confirmation of the ISU's status as a large multidisciplinary university.
The THE Emerging Economies University Rankings includes 48 Russian universities, the best among which is Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov (6th place).
