ISU Sportsmen Won Prizes in the Karate Championship

The sportsmen of ISU Sport Club successfully participated in the Irkutsk region championship. The event took place in the middle of November. The best athletes from Irkutsk, Bratsk, Chita, Ulan-Ude and Borsya came to compete with each other.

ISU students did their best in the “Kumite” fight (free-style karate training).

Mr. Osseni Modukpe Mohamed Houd, a freshman from Benin, and Mr. Andian Amsheev, a master degree program student, both studying at the Institute of Philology, Foreign languages and Media communication, proved their strength and won the highest prizes – gold medals. Good results were shown by Maksim Timofeev, a master degree program student of the Faculty of Psychology, he took the 3 place among the athletes under 75 kg.

ISU Sport Club is very popular among both boys and girls. Girls took part in the championship and demonstrated good results as well: Ms. Anastasiia Maksimova, a lab research-assistant of the Research Institute of Biology, and Ms. Taisiya Zenzina, a third year student of the Institute of Philology, Foreign languages and media communication, shared the 3 place in “Kumite”.
