Korean weekends at ISU

KOREAN DAYS IN ISU
At the end of the last week two Korean events took place at ISU: the conference “Russia and Korea: a view from Siberia” and the Korean Alphabet Day (Hangul (한글) at the ISU Botanical Garden.
On October 9, the representatives of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Irkutsk, Consul General Mr. Kim Se Woon and Consul Mr. Song Il Seok, visited the conference Russia and Korea: a view from Siberia and participated in the opening ceremony. They made a solemn speech and wished everyone fruitful work. To the warm speech joined Mr. Im Chul Woo, Director of the Moscow Office of the Korean Foundation. On behalf of ISU Prof. Konstantin Grigorichev, ISU Vice-rector for research and international cooperation, and Dr. Konstantin Ivanov, Head of the ISU Center for Korean Studies, welcomed the guests and participants. The conference lasted two days: 9-10 October. The participants discussed the urgent issues on Korean Studies and the Russian-Korean partnership.  
Mr. Song took part in the celebration of Hangul Day as well. Together with ISU rector, Prof. Alexander Schmidt, Mr. Song opened the festival with a welcoming speech. During the event, ISU creative teams showed bright performances and conducted a quiz among the guests of the Hangul festival. Mr. Consul awarded the most active participants of the event and gave them souvenirs from Korea as a present.  
The Korean vector is one of the most well-developed and respectable directions in ISU international activity. The frequency of conducting joint events highlights the crucial role of partnership with the Republic of Korea for ISU.
