The European languages Department of the International Institute of Economics and linguistics held a City Contest in English among students. The intellectual language competition took place on March 4 at the Scientific library named after V. G. Rasputin.

More than 60 high school students from 17 educational organizations took part in the contest. They completed several tasks: listening, reading, vocabulary and grammar tests.

— We tried to take into account the requirements for foreign language proficiency for students in secondary schools. The format of tasks was close to the format of the basic state exam in English, - said Irina Shilnikova, head of the European languages Department of the International Institute of Economics and linguistics.

It should be noted that the contest required the participants to have B1 level of English, which allows them to take part in everyday conversations on familiar topics and exchange information.
