The cooperation agreement between the Center for Asian studies of Seoul National University and Irkutsk State University was signed last week. The document confirms the intention of the parties to cooperate in the sphere of developing academic exchanges.

— The Center for Asian studies of Seoul National University, opened in 2009, is known to be a serious research center for the study of social and economic issues of Asian countries and the region as a whole. We are confident that the cooperation will be useful for us in connection with the opening of a research center for Korean studies at Irkutsk University (the project was supported by the Korea Foundation at the end of December 2019), — Yulia Elokhina, International office head, comments on.

The first practical step implemented in the framework of the agreement will be an online course in the economy of North-East Asia. It starts in March 2020, with the international Institute of Economics and Linguistics of ISU serving as the venue. 15 lectures are planned to be delivered (in English) in the interactive format. At the end of the course of lectures, participants will take a serious exam, which be taken by honorary Professor of Seoul National University.

The online course is a part of the KF Global e-school for Korean Language Program, which is implemented with the financial support of the Korean Foundation.

— We are very proud to have the opportunity to cooperate with one of the leading Universities of the Republic of Korea. It is a unique opportunity for our students to grasp new competence and experience to be more competitive when applying for work, — Eugene Kolodina, Director of the Korean center ISU, noted.
