ISU Department of Physical Education and the University Sports Club held a chess tournament dedicated to 95th anniversary of the university.
The chess tournament was held as a 95-board simultaneous display in the ISU Assembly Hall. Vice rector for External Affairs Sergey Yazev, Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Raissa Prohodovskaya and president of the regional chess federation , an ISU graduate, Sergey Dipchinsky opened the competition. 95 chess amateurs confronted 4 World-class grand masters: Valentin Kron, a graduate of the Faculty of Physics, Sergey Dipchinsky, president of the regional chess federation, FIDE Master Alexander Shirokovskii and FIDE Master Jacob Ginsburg.
