Sayana Vologzhina, ISU Geography Faculty Dean, was elected a member of the International Association of Scientists "The Belt and Road Initiative" for a period of 5 years.


On November 4-5, the Second Forum of the International Association of Scientists "The Belt and Road Initiative" was held in Beijing, China. Over 120 scientists from different countries took part in it, including Sayana Vologzhina. Prof. Vologzhina presented a report "The Modeling of Processes of Transfer and Transformation of Emissions in the Territory of Southern Baikal".

Two moths ago Irkutsk State University and the Institute of Geography and Natural Resources of the Academy of Sciences of China signed an Agreement on Cooperation. The participation of ISU Geography Faculty Dean in the Forum became the first step to start the joint activities in the framework of the Agreement.

The main topics of the scientific sessions at the Forum touched upon environmental management, environmental development and the using of digital technologies. In particular, scientists discussed cross-border cooperation between Northeast China, the Russian Far East, the East of Mongolia, Japan and Korea, the “China-Mongolia-Russia” economic corridor, the Polar Silk Road and the revival of “The Tea Road”.
