At Irkutsk State University five students from Africa (three students from Côte d’Ivoire, one student from Congo and one from Zambia) are studying. Three of them entered ISU this year.

Michel Thea entered master degree programme at Irkutsk State University in 2015. After graduating from master degree programme, Michel entered graduate school at the Faculty of Geography.

At the moment I am working on climate change issues in Western Africa, in particular, I am interested in studying the climate change in Côte d’Ivoire – my home country. In the framework of my scientific research I pay a special attention to such meteorological parameters as temperature, humidity, pressure, and etc., and I am also considering the possibility of implementing wind power plants. In our republic (Côte d’Ivoire) there are very few qualified meteorologists dealing with problems from a scientific point of view. That’s why I am very grateful to Irkutsk State University, my teachers and especially my supervisor Alla Arguchintseva (the head of the Department of Hydrology and Nature Management of  ISU), – said Michel Thea.

During the study period Michel has had numerous trips around the region and met a lot of friends. He emotionally talks about his life in Siberia and his studies at the university.
