The Russian poetry recitation competition took place at the ISU Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication. The competition involved students from China studying at universities of Irkutsk. The competition was sponsored by the Consulate General of China in Irkutsk, the Department of Oriental and Asia-Pacific Region studies and the Department of Russian as a foreign language and Faculty of foreign languages of IPFLM ISU. The co-chairs of the jury: Consul for education of the Consulate General of China in Irkutsk Mr. Lin Baisue and Acting director of the Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication Mrs. Marina Tashlykova.


The competition was held in two stages. At the first stage, the participants recited Yevgeny Yevtushenko’s poems, chosen by their preferences. The second stage also provided the freedom of choice, but this time students could choose any poem of any Russian poet.
