At the end of March the International Institute of Economics and Linguistics hosted the regional round of "Chinese Proficiency Competition for School Students" at the ISU Scientific Library. The contest is conducted in collaboration with China’s Consulate General in Irkutsk.
11 groups of high school students from Irkutsk, Usolie-Sibirskoe, Chita, Kyakhta and Ulan-Ude took part in the Chinese language contest. They made presentations and performed Chinese songs and dancing.
– It is out of the question that earning a foreign language is a very intensive work that requires a lot of efforts. But it is the activity that helps to comprehend the history and traditions of the country where Chinese is spoken. Participation in such a contest is a good opportunity to challenge yourself and move forward, - Yulia Elokhina, the international office head, emphasized.

1st prize winner – school “Dialect”, Tynda;
2nd prize winner – Foreign Languages Center “Hello” (Ulan-Ude);
3rd prize winner – Secondary school № 47 (Irkutsk)
