Irkutsk State University has improved its position in the National Ranking of Universities released by the “Interfax” group. This year in the overall ranking ISU is placed 40th-41st among the leading Russian Universities. In the ranking by “education” criterion ISU takes the 36th position (in 2015 – 45th).

This result is supposed to demonstrate that ISU is committed to developing modern approached both in education and research as well as enlarging cooperation with Russian and foreign partners. Supporting the principle “education through science”, ISU is aimed at strengthening its position as the regional center for generating new knowledge in the context of changing social and economic environment.
