Developing Academic Cooperation with the University of Oulu (Finland)

Irkutsk State University and the University of Oulu (Finland) have concluded the Memorandum of Understanding on academic cooperation. The agreement is signed by ISU Rector, prof. Alexander Arguchintsev and the rector of the University of Oulu, prof. Jouko Niinimäki.


Under the treaty the Universities agree to advance cooperation in such spheres as academic exchange programs for students and faculty members, joint research activities and internship exchanges. The University of Oulu is one of the largest universities in Europe, it is famous for developing advanced technologies and cooperation with a number of well-known international companies.


At present, we are discussing the idea to set up the joint research center to focus on projects in the fields of biophotonics and sensor technologies, therefore, the signed memorandum is the first step to a comprehensive collaboration, – Maxim Timofeev, the head of the ISU Research Institute of Biology, noted.
