ISU held an orientation day for high school students on February 28. Traditionally the official ceremony opened with the “Gaudeamus” anthem performed by the ISU Youth Choir. Then the ISU Rector Alexander Arguchintsev made a welcome speech:


- You are about to take the most important decision in your life. The first education you get is a significant thing. Of course, you may get two or even three degrees, but the first one will be the basis for your further life and career. Irkutsk State University is able to create the framework for your self-reaization.

The ISU Rector presented some information about scholarships the ISU students can apply for. After the official ceremony the high school-leavers and their parents could interact with ISU lecturers and students, learn more about faculties and institutes, examinations, and academic programs.
