ISU held the special ceremony to congratulate master’s degree and PhD students who were announced to be winners in the Oxford Russia Fund Scholarship Program. 20 ISU students of History and Law departments, Institute of Social sciences and Siberian-American Faculty got their certificates on February 19.
In his speech ISU Rector, professor Alexander Arguchintsev outlined that the winners are supposed to influence further development of the University and regional science.
-If you have got this scholarship, it means that you have succeeded in playing an active role in different spheres. Now it is high time for you to intensify your participation in both research and social projects and not to miss the opportunities Irkutsk State University provides you with.
ISU students of the humanities and social sciences faculties have applied for the ORF scholarships for 10 years. The program is aimed at stimulating students to perform high academic results and conduct own research projects.
– Irkutsk State University is the only university in Eastern Siberia to implement two pilot projects of the ORF. The first is the contest for scholarship among master’s degree and PhD students, the second pilot project – a tutoring system – is under consideration, - Olga Edelshtein, the program coordinator, comments on.
