ISU has been the only regional University to win the grant of RUB 16,8 million to promote ISU Student union's projects.

The contest has been conducted by the Ministry of Education and Science since 2012. One of the requirements is to take an active part in the organization of the Youth Forums. In 2015 ISU contributed to the organization of the Russian national educational youth forum "Iturup". One more significant criterion for the organizations is to have sufficient experience in event-management and co-funding.

In 2014 ISU was awarded with RUB 10 million to foster its Student union’s programs, in 2015 it got RUB 9 million. The grant covers expense to realize such projects as “ISU Science Week”, “Baikal Conference”, a course in SRB, the contest “Student Leader”, “Total Dictation”, the quiz contest and many other events.
