ISU International Institute of Economics and Linguistics and the Center for Chinese language “Confucius Institute at ISU” welcomed the delegation of Shandong province (China).
Lee Zhung, a deputy head of Foreign Affairs department at the Shandong province administration, Chang Kang, a head of Department for Developing Cooperation with Russia and Asian Countries, and Xie Jihua, an officer of the Department for Fishery, had negotiations with Alexander Schmidt, ISU Vice rector for science and international affairs, Oleg Arkhipkin, the acting head of the International Institute of Economics and Linguistics and Svetlana Bayramova, the head of the Center for Chinese language “Confucius Institute at ISU”.
The scope of issues discussed at the meeting was as follows: developing cooperation forms including academic mobility programs as well as setting up the Nishan book center at the ISU Scientific Library. Shandong province officials are going to grant 300 books to the ISU Library. The Nishan book centers have already been created in many countries, however, in Russia there are only two such centers – in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg.
– Irkutsk region has had partnership relations with a number of Chinese provinces, above all, with Liaoning province. But we hope that Irkutsk citizens can be interested in cooperation with our province as it is a unique place. A well-known philosopher Confucius is assumed to have been born here, the region is famous for its magnificent nature: there is lofty Mount Tai, and the Yellow River flowing into the Bohai Sea, - Lee Zhung, a deputy head of Foreign Affairs department at the Shandong province administration, noted.
