The representatives of Wolfram Research company – Galina Mikhalkina (International Business Development and Marketing executive) and Vitaly Kaurov (Technical Communications and Strategy Consultant) - visited ISU to make a presentation of the Wolfram Technologies including Wolfram programing Language, technical computing program Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha, Wolfram Cloud and other software systems.

Founded by Stephen Wolfram in 1987, Wolfram Research company is one of the world's most respected computer, web, and cloud software companies, and it is regarded to be a powerhouse for scientific and technical innovation. Being a pioneer in computation and computational knowledge, the company has a goal to develop science, technology, and tools to bring computation to the today's and tomorrow's world helping scientific, industrial and educational institutions around the world as well as any individuals interested in the frontier computational developments.

Galina Mikhalkina: Even though Mathematica has been applied to in many research organizations all over Russia for the last 26 years, serious awareness campaigns have started about 5 years ago. Since then we have visited practically all CIS countries, and many cities all over the Russian Federation. Our technologies are now available to all professors, researchers and students at some of the major Russian Universities: Saint Petersburg State University of Economics, Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Physics and Mathematics Lyceum 239 in Saint Petersburg and a few more. We are hoping to include Irkutsk State University into this list as well.

 Vitaly Kaurov: Our Company is innovating technologies that help scientists, engineers, educators, students and other specialists working with modern computing and data. Today’s presentation was interesting to both ISU students and faculty members. We had a lot of questions to answer. It was pleasant to see such a warm welcome and genuine interest. I was able to dwell on quite advanced topics because ISU faculty members and students have a broad theoretical background and quickly grasp new ideas. Galina and I are delighted to visit Irkutsk State University and deeply thankful to ISU for the organization of this lecture.
