Vice rector for Science and International Affairs Alexander Schmidt comments on:
– Irkutsk State University considers developing international programs to be an important activity. We have posed a task to become a full-fledged member of the world education system and are going to reach our goal through new academic exchange programs and admitting more foreign students. Given the geographical location, ISU has a wide range of contacts with Asian Universities. We have a number of partner contacts with European educational institutes so far, and now we put all efforts to enlarge and strengthen this direction.
At the round-table discussion held on September 29 the representatives of ISU and the University of Paris VIII had talks about cooperation forms and directions, with a special attention being paid to academic mobility programs and joint summer schools for master and post-graduate students.
Vice rector for International Affairs of the University of Paris VIII Bezunesh Tamru notes:
– Now it is high time for us to implement joint programs. It is crucial to meet our Russian colleagues to discuss further steps that should be taken to put our plans in practice. And the main aim of our visit is to make all possible to turn the cooperation agreement we have already concluded into the effective tool fostering joint programs. We have had a very productive discussion and managed to determine some interesting projects. I think we can start joint project implementation in 2016. Above all, we would like to organize the Lake Baikal Interdisciplinary Summer School.
