A new faculty of Psychology at Irkutsk State University was opened in 1993 on the basis of the existing College of Physiology and Psychology. The faculty of Psychology and Social Work united such departments as the department of Physiology, the department of Psychology, the department of Sociology and Pedagogy where 28 professors, associate professors and lecturers worked. In 1994 the department of Applied and Experimental Psychology and of Pedagogical and Developmental Psychology appeared. At the same time the faculty trained specialists in social work and logopaedics. In 1998 the first group of specialists-psychologists graduated from University. Today, the Faculty of Psychology trains specialists, bachelor and master degree holders. Highly-qualified specialists from Moscow and St. Petersburg universities deliver lectures, conduct joint research, conferences together with professional psychologists from all over Siberia. One of the proofs of the faculty efficiency is the first in Siberia Master program, first centers for advanced training of psychologists from the Federal Security Service, Russian Railway and the others.
