VI International conference “Eurasia in Cenozoic era” took place in ISU on May 10 - 13. The conference was organized by the ISU Research Centre “Baikal Region” in collaboration with the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of SB RAS, the Institute of the Earth’s Crust SB RAS and V.B. Sochava Institute of Geography SB RAS. 82 scientists from 24 cities of Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Canada, France, and the Czech Republic applied for participation at the conference.
At the opening session of the conference that took place in the Scientific Library of ISU Alexander Arguchintsev, ISU rector, Ekaterina Lipnina, director of the ISU Research Centre “Baikal Region” and Yurii Ryzhov, director of the Irkutsk Scientific Centre SB RAS, delivered welcome speeches to the participants.
Reports of the leading specialists in archaeology, geomorphology, paleoecology were presented at the plenary session. A report on ancient ceramics in Central Europe was made by archaeologists from the Czech Republic: Dr. Ivan Pavlu, professor of the Department of archaeology, Faculty of philosophy, University of Hradec Králové (Czech Republic) and two master-course students of this University - Teresa Machowa and Alžběta Phalkova.
